General Questions

Where is the Newton Theatre located?
The Newton Theatre is located on the corner of Spring St. & Madison St at 234 Spring Street, Newton NJ 07860.
Where is patron parking?
The Newton Theatre does not have a patron parking lot onsite. However, there is ample on-street parking and public lots available. Click here for a parking map.

Is there public transportation nearby the venue?
Lakeland Bus Lines offers a stop in Newton from a Park & Ride located at 11 South Park Drive; about a 15 minute walk from the theatre. You can find bus schedules here
Does the Newton Theatre have age restrictions on shows?
For most shows, The Newton Theatre is an all-ages venue. On occasion, an event may have a specific age restriction. Please note that many of our events are not appropriate for young children. We do not recommend that anyone under the age of 12 attend performances unless that performances is specifically geared toward that age range. Please respect the experience of the people sitting around you if you plan to bring a young child. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket. 

The Box Office can help to determine if a performance is appropriate for your child. Refer to the individual event link on for complete shows details of the show are interested in attending.
What type of items are prohibited at the Newton Theatre?
  • No outside food or beverages are allowed upon entry.
  • No professional cameras, audio devices, video cameras or tablets allowed without a press pass and approval from theatre. Press passes must be authorized before the night of show and will not be granted by any box officer to a patron without proper documentation.
  • No weapons of any kind.
  • No large bags, backpacks, suitcases or water toting packs allowed.
  • No signs, banners, flyers or any other posters that may block the view of other patrons.
  • No alcohol may be purchased without proper I.D. We reserve the right to refuse service to any patron that is overly intoxicated and/or behaving in an antagonistic or violent behavior.
What time can I access the venue on show night?
For most shows, excluding matinees and special events, venue doors open at 7:00pm. We try our best to adhere to an 8:00pm start time for all shows. Performance times and cast members are beyond our control and are subject to change without advance notification. Doors always open 1 hour prior to showtime. Check for event details and showtimes on our website.
Are non-professional cameras and videos allowed during shows?
Cameras, camera phones, audio, video and digital recorders, paging devices and cell phones are not permitted in the theatre. Guests using these items may be ejected without refund.
What if a show is cancelled or postponed? How will I know?
Always check our website for the most up-to-date information. We will also post on social media outlets and send an email with show announcements. We will make every attempt to inform guests of our intentions to close as soon as possible. Please note: If the show goes on as planned, no refunds or exchanges will be granted.

If your event is canceled and you bought your tickets through our box office or Showclix, you will be refunded for the face value of the ticket. If you bought your tickets through a restricted, third party vendor, we can not grant any refunds for your purchase. Please note, we are strongly advise using only skypac.org to purchase tickets. 

If an event is postponed, we will contact you using the info you provided at checkout . Your tickets will be good for the new date and time, same seats. Within 30 days of the notice, you may also exchange your tickets for a gift certificate for another show.
Does the venue allow re-entry?
Yes, re-entry is allowed after checking in. A hand stamp is required by venue personnel and keeping your ticket on you is recommended.
Does the venue have a coat check?
No. Guests are personally responsible for their own coats, purses and/or small bags.
Will the venue search my bag or purse?
The Newton Theatre staff and security reserve the right to search any bags we deem questionable or feel may be hiding something which could endanger other guests at the theatre. Failure to comply may get you exited from the venue.
Does the venue have an ATM?
No ATM is provided at the theatre, however, the box office and concessions both accept all forms of major credit cards.
I am in a wheelchair or need handicapped assistance into the venue, where should I go when I arrive?
You or someone from your party should come to the box office and ask the attendant to grab a security member to escort you around the building to a side entrance to access your seats. 
I think I left something at the venue. Do you have a lost & found?
If an item is turned in by either staff or another patron, it will be placed in our lost & found. Please fill out this form if you have misplaced an item.
How can I become a volunteer?
The Newton Theatre encourages the idea of its community coming together to support live music and performing arts. Our volunteers join us in sharing this passion. You can fill out a volunteer application here and start helping the theatre and its patrons, too!

Ticketing

Can I enter with a ticket on my phone?
Yes, we scan all tickets, whether printed or on your phone.
How can I get tickets to an event?
1. The easiest and most convenient method to purchase tickets is online through Showclix. Patrons can view our seating chart and select which seats they prefer. You can also purchase tickets to multiple events at a time in one simple order. When purchasing online, be sure to share all of your contact info requested. This will enable we can reach you in the event of a cancellation, postponement or with other show announcements. 

2. If you prefer talking to someone, a box office representative is available to answer any questions you may not have found online and/or assist with a ticket purchase over the phone. To reach the box office, please call (973) 940-NEWT. Note: there is an additional $2 service fee per ticket when purchasing by phone.

3. If you like purchasing tickets in person, you may visit the venue during hours of operation during venue showtimes. Refer to our calendar for days the venue opens for events. Please note, purchasing tickets in person, whether it be cash or credit card, does not exempt you from all applicable ticketing service fees.
Can I buy tickets at the door day of show?
Yes, so long as the event is not sold out. We welcome all ticket walk ups day of show. 
What does a Newton Theatre Membership entitle me to?
Patrons that frequent the venue often and support The Newton Theatre may chose to purchase a membership depending on their level of involvement with the theatre. Benefits range from free shows, advance purchase privileges, Meet & Greet access and more! Check out all that our memberships have to offer here.
Why can’t I find wheelchair or handicapped accessible seating online through Showclix?
We reserve special seating for various patron needs and only sell these tickets by calling or visiting the box office directly. We do not allow public purchase of these tickets to ensure we can accommodate all of our guests. Special seating tickets are subject to all applicable service fees. Something came up… Can I get a refund?
All ticket sale are FINAL. No refunds, returns or exchanges. Ticket orders cannot be modified or canceled after being placed.

I bought a third-party ticket, is that OK?
The Newton Theatre is strongly against third-party tickets! We cannot be responsible for tickets purchased through unauthorized third parties. Your tickets cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. We cannot guarantee that your tickets are valid and cannot guarantee admittance. You will always pay more than face value. We cannot contact you with information regarding time changes, show cancellations, road closures or other information. We reserve the right to revoke tickets sold to a broker or unauthorized third party. If you are holding a revoked ticket, you will not be admitted and will not receive a refund.
I won tickets! Where do I get them?
Congratulations! You may pick up your tickets day of show at the box office with a valid I.D.
I lost my tickets or I’m at the venue and I forgot my tickets! What now?
If you find yourself in this predicament, come to the box office day of show and we will reissue your tickets. You will need a valid, photo I.D. and the credit card you purchased your tickets with. The Newton Theatre reserves the right to deny re-issuing of any tickets we feel may be subject to identity fraud. It is best to call the theatre in advance and discuss the reissuing of your tickets.
Am I guaranteed seating if I purchased tickets to a sold out show?
Yes, we do not sell more tickets than seats available. All patrons are granted seating and are recommended to stay seating during performances so all patrons may enjoy the show.
I bought Meet & Greet Tickets. When do I meet the artist?
Meet & Greet or VIP Packages can vary depending on the artist needs & requirements. Whether it is before or after the show depends on how details work out with the artists arrival and sound check. Finalized details will be shared within 24 hours of the event.
I have an organization I'd like to donate tickets to. Where do I do this?
Tickets can be donated to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations through this form.

Food, Beverage, Smoking Policies

Does the venue have a bar?
Yes, The Newton Theatre offers beer, wine and concessions. We accept cash and all major credit cards. In order to consume alcohol, a valid government issued identification with photo is required for proof of age.
Can I bring my beverage outside while I smoke?
Patrons are not allowed to leave the venue with alcoholic beverages in hand. All alcoholic beverages are opened by our bartenders and can not be served to our patrons otherwise.
Can the venue deny entry or bar service?
If staff feels you are entering the venue overly inebriated or exhibiting uncontrolled behavior, we reserve the right to refuse entry or refuse the right to purchase alcohol from our bar. No refunds will be granted if asked to leave or denied entry to the venue. We care about every patron’s safety and positive experience at the venue.
Is there a designated smoking area?
The Newton Theatre does not have a designated smoking area. Please do not litter and dispose of butts in proper trash receptacles provided.
Does the venue allow use of electronic cigarettes?
The use of all electronic smoking devices are prohibited from being used inside The Newton Theatre, as well as immediately in front of the entrance doors.
