Dear Friends of The Newton Theatre:

On behalf of Skylands Performing Arts Center, I’d like to thank you for your continued support of The Newton Theatre and The Newton Theatre Arts Academy. Since 2011 you’ve helped us bring quality performances and vital arts education to the NJ Skylands region; we would not be where we are today without your generous assistance.

The support we have received since reopening has been overwhelming- it underlines how important The Theatre and Academy are to the community and inspires us to continue our work and our mission.

Here are just a few of our highlights since reopening:
  • 40+ performances by a diverse array of artists including Jim Messina, Roger McGuinn, Al Di Meola, Southside Johnny, and Asleep at the Wheel;
  • Stage productions of Seussical Jr. and Peter Pan Jr. by the students of The Newton Theatre Arts Academy;
  • Free admission to our Encore! Gallery displaying artwork by New Jersey artists;
  • Free tickets to performances for local teachers and their families;
  • Free tickets to active and retired military service members through our partnership with VetTix;
  • Winter Coat Drive with our partners at Project Self Sufficiency of Sussex County;
  • Donations to local Non-profit organizations including DASI, SCARC, and Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice.
Donations are an essential part of our budget- they enable us to provide the programs that support our mission to educate, entertain and inspire all of our audiences- regardless of ethnicity, age or income level. If you are passionate about ‘The Newt’, the arts, and your community, please consider making a Year End donation so we can continue to provide our much needed programs.

Thank you again for being part of The Newton Theatre family and helping to make our community a better place through the Arts. Please donate today!

Here’s a sample of what we accomplished in 2019:
  • 80+ performances including LeAnn Rimes, Jackie Evancho, Marty Stuart, and other greats;
  • 40+ movies including Oscar winners ‘Green Book’, ‘Roma’, and ‘Free Solo’;
  • Over a dozen classes and workshops as well as four main-stage productions by The Arts Academy;
  • Artwork by professional artists and students on display free of charge at our Encore! Gallery;
  • Fund-raising and Tuition Scholarships for local causes and students in need.
I’d like to share a story that underlines the importance of our programs:
"This past summer, Landon, a student with autism, enrolled in the Arts Academy's Jungle Book Summer Camp. At first, Landon didn't seem to be interested in participating with the others in class. Education Director Sara Bartlett wasn't sure the camp was a good fit for Landon and expressed her concern to Landon's mother, who was surprised because the camp was all that Landon talked about at home. This prompted Ms. Sara to 'buddy up' another student with Landon during class. On opening night, Landon sang, danced and had the time of his life! He discovered a passion for the stage and a place where he belonged."
Your support makes stories like these possible.
